Platform Philosophy

Your Data, Your Rules.

Every app you open, every search you run and every message you send leaves a trace. Together, those traces say more about you than most of your friends know.
As a platform built for young Moroccans, we get asked the same questions again and again: What do you collect? Who sees it? Do you sell it? Do you train AI on my chats? This article answers them plainly.
Why your data matters
Your data is a picture of your life: where you go, what you buy, what you worry about, who you talk to. For many tech companies, that picture is the product. It is used to target ads, predict behavior and, more and more, to train AI.
People feel this. In a 2023 Pew Research Center survey of 5,101 American adults, 81% of those who had heard of AI said the information companies collect will be used in ways people aren’t comfortable with, and 70% had little or no trust in companies to use AI responsibly. And 56% said they usually click “agree” on privacy policies without reading them.
That last number is the problem. When rules are long and hard to read, people give up. Privacy shouldn’t depend on reading 30 pages of legal text.
The questions you should ask any app
Before you trust an app with your data, ask five simple questions:
What do you collect? Only what you need, or everything you can?
Do you sell it or use it for ads?
Who else gets it? Payment companies, hosting, AI providers?
How long do you keep it? And can I delete it?
Do you train AI on my conversations?
That last question matters more every day. In October 2025, Stanford researchers studied the privacy policies of six major AI companies. All six use people’s chats to train their models by default. Some keep data indefinitely, some let humans read conversations, and most don’t remove children’s messages from training. Their advice: think carefully about what you share with a chatbot, and opt out of training wherever you can.
Your rights in Morocco
Morocco protects personal data under Law No. 09-08, enforced by the CNDP (Commission Nationale de contrôle de la protection des Données à caractère Personnel). Under this law, you have the right to:
Be informed: who is collecting your data, why, and who receives it.
Access: find out whether your data is being processed and get a copy.
Correct: have your data fixed, completed, updated or deleted.
Object: refuse processing on legitimate grounds, and refuse marketing for free.
Companies must collect data only for clear purposes, keep it secure, and not hold it longer than needed. Health data and other sensitive data get extra protection. If a company ignores your rights, you can complain to the CNDP.
What MoroccanZ does about it
Here are our answers to those same five questions, straight from our privacy policy.
What we collect. What we need to run the service: your account details, what you post in the Community, your MoroccanZ AI chats and files, and purchase records. We never collect your precise GPS location. Card details stay with Stripe and never reach us.
No selling, no ads. We do not sell your information, and we do not show ads. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking.
Who else gets it. Only the trusted providers that help us run the platform, such as Stripe for payments, Circle for the Community and Cloudflare for hosting. Each one is named in our policy. When you use MoroccanZ AI, your request goes to the provider of the model you choose.
How long we keep it. Only as long as needed. You can delete your AI chats, files and projects at any time. When you close your account, your data is deleted or anonymized, except records the law requires us to keep, such as payment records for tax purposes.
AI training. We do not train AI models on your content. We are also honest about the limits: some model providers may use what’s sent to them to improve their models, and our policy tells you which ones so you can choose another.
A few more commitments:
Control is yours. You can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it or export it. Many of these actions take one click in your account. AI Memory is optional and you can turn it off.
Security by default. Data is encrypted in transit, connected-app tokens are stored encrypted, files are private and staff access is limited. No system is perfect, and we won’t pretend otherwise.
High standards for everyone. We apply GDPR-level standards, Europe’s strictest rules, to every member. Moroccan members keep all their rights under Law 09-08, including the right to complain to the CNDP.
Young members are protected. MoroccanZ is not for children under 13, and members under 18 need a parent’s or guardian’s permission.
What you can do today
Read the summary, not just the button. Before you click “agree”, look for what’s collected and whether it’s sold.
Share less with chatbots. Never paste your CIN number, passwords, bank details or health records into any AI tool.
Opt out of AI training wherever an app lets you.
Turn on two-step sign-in for your email and social accounts.
Clean up regularly. Delete old chats, files and apps you no longer use.
Use your rights. Ask any company for a copy of your data. Under Law 09-08, they have to answer.
Your data is part of who you are. You decide who gets it and why. We built MoroccanZ so that decision always stays with you.
